Marhlok is Arkail's father, husband to Issya and former chief of the Red Breath Clan. When the clan was besieged by the humans he ordered a complete surrender and Arkail holds a deep grudge for his father's betrayal. Despite the broken relationship, the two men manage to reconcile over their shared mission to kill the human Emperor and work together for a chance to free their people.

Biography
Background
During his time as chief of the Red Breath clan, they were besieged by humans. They held out for some time but just when the orcs got ready for their last attempt to fight, Marhlok ordered them, including his son, to lower their weapons and surrender.
Styx: Shards of Darkness
The Summit
Marhlok is being invited to a summit organised by Lyssril, the queen of the dark elves in Korrangar. He acts as a representative for some, if not all, orcs of the Southern Lands. During the presentation he laughs at Aaron Barimen's display of fear in front of a goblin and mocks him for it. Later on, when everyone applauds Lyssril, Aaron Barimen gets back at Marhlok promising that one day all orcs will bow their heads to the humans, to which he earns nothing but laughter from the orc.
Berating Arkail
Some time later, Styx witnesses Marhlok argue with his son, Arkail. He warns his son to keep is anger in check and that crushing someone's bones as response to mockery is NOT a good answer.

Welcoming Arkail to the Mire
As the Archivist's advisor, Mahrlok stands behind him, making recommendations about what to do with new arrivals. When Arkail arrives, he recommends him to be send to The Row straight away, to fight to the death and put on a good show for the occupants of the Mire. Knowing that Arkail was the Bloodjaw they were waiting for, he forces him into the Row to immediately earn the respect of the entire Mire, trusting Arkail to live through the fights.
Meeting Again
When he has time to leave his post, he meets Arkail again in the Resistance hideout and it is revealed that Marhlok himself is one of the leaders of the Resistance. They very briefly discuss past events but then focus on the important tasks at hand.

Preparing for the Revolt
Once all is prepared, Marhlok calls in the Resistance for a war council and they make a plan together. Being at the forefront of the revolt, aimed to distract the humans while Arkail enters their tower to safe High Mage Arkence, Marhlok is ready to give his life. Father and son separate after some short words of good bye.
The Second Revolt
Marhlok is among those who survive the first revolt. He hides with a few others from the Resistance in an abandoned area of the Mire. There is no shown reunion due to the urgency of the matter, but it is understood that Marhlok once more helps to rise the whole of the Mire in a revolt and an attack, with a subsequent flight through a hidden tunnel towards the surface.

Marhlok appears much younger in Styx: Shards of Darkness. He has no beard and wears his hair in a bun. He proudly wears what appears to be a crocodile skin as cape.
Of Orcs and Men
Marhlok has aged significantly and the hard work inside the Mire shows. He wears only a rugged vest and workers pants. He is now bald and has a grey, short full beard.
